TEACHER TRAININGS
Since 2020, Full Spectrum Education has worked to provide humanistic professional development (PD) opportunities to educators nationwide. Community partners, such as museums and non-profit education organizations, frequently invite us to hold workshops for educators. We also host our own teacher trainings.

As of 2024, FSE is a recognized professional development provider accredited by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). Most recently, in the summer of 2024, we were awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to host a 15-day teacher institute. To learn more about that program as well as past or upcoming professional development opportunities, view the table below.
NEH K-12 Institute
Our summer 2024 institute on Japanese American Post-War Resettlement in Chicago from 1943 to 1950. Educators learned about the history of resettlement while engaging with Japanese American community members on-site in Chicago. All of the programming for the institute was designed to equip educators with the background and tools to confidently teach and think through the history and socio-political ramifications of Japanese American incarceration and resettlement.

“The most wonderful part... was the emotional light that was brought to my life through this group. In a time when educators and education are under attack from many angles, it was liberating to be amongst a group where I felt that me and my work were truly valued. The feedback and meetings were always overwhelmingly uplifting and invigorating. I felt energized to hone my craft and work to bring exciting material to my students.”

“Everything this team has taught me has encouraged me to continue researching and building knowledge on the Asian American histories that are out there, such as pictures, and archives outside of the textbooks in my classroom.”
